LED displays offer several advantages for control rooms. They provide a seamless viewing experience, which means no distracting lines between panels. Their high contrast ratios also make it easier to distinguish between different elements on the screen. Additionally, LEDs support a wide colour gamut and therefore greater colour accuracy which is crucial in preventing misinterpretation of critical data.
LEDs also offer long product life, reducing downtime in 24/7 operations to do replacements or repairs. Their energy efficiency is particularly good in control room environments where ‘dark mode’ settings are preferred for extended viewing comfort – LEDs are ‘additive’ meaning when a pixel is off (black) then power consumption and heat output are low. In ‘subtractive’ technologies like LCD or projection the backlight is always on.
