Delivering future-proof return on investment through longevity and continual upgrades.
When the Tessera SX40 LED processor came onto the market, it didn’t have HDR capabilities. It didn’t have Dark Time Insertion, Extended Bit Depth, Frame Remapping or ShutterSync®. But it does now.
ShutterSync is one of the features that was added with the v3.2 software release in 2021. So if you’d already owned an SX40 you’d bought back in 2018, here was a feature that could be added through a free software upgrade that would flip the LED workflow on its head, helping eliminate in-camera artefacts.
Frame Store, which was used on Adele’s Munich residency – a show that set a new Guinness World Record for the world’s largest temporary continuous outdoor LED screen – was a new v3.5 feature, developed directly in response to a customer request.
Like the features introduced in new software releases, the revolutionary TrueLight technology introduced in 2023 (built on Brompton’s existing Dynamic Calibration technology) was also backwards compatible – now the SX40 could bring that same Brompton image quality to new RGBW LED screens coming onto the market, with full per-pixel colour calibration.
With every software upgrade, the SX40 has become more than it was before – without any additional capital outlay or any change in hardware required. And the same can be said for every processor Brompton has made. Even unit #001001, a Tessera M2 and the very first processor to leave Brompton’s manufacturing facility back in 2012, is still part of an active touring inventory and still receiving software updates.
It’s also thanks to “future-proofing” Dynamic Calibration and Hydra technology that Brompton rental partners are getting many more years out of their LED panel rental inventories. Panels that were once nearing the end of their lifecycle have been reintroduced as fresh inventory – looking better than ever before and capable of working with the latest LED processing innovations.
“Return on investment that lasts” is an approach that keeps users at the cutting edge, and delivers on the bottom line.
