Brompton and ROE Visual deliver flawless visual spectacle for Australian music’s night of nights, the 2025 ARIA Awards

The 2025 ARIA Awards produced by Second Sunday delivered one of its most visually ambitious productions to date, with Brompton Technology’s Tessera LED processors driving a full ROE Visual LED system deployed by award-winning AV company, Scene Change. The large-format LED installation played a central role in creating a cohesive, camera-ready visual environment for Australia’s premier music awards, hosted at the Hordern Pavilion in Sydney and streamed live across Paramount+ and Network 10.

This year’s ceremony showcased a compelling lineup of performances and award moments from artists including Amyl and the Sniffers, who topped the evening with four award wins, alongside Ninajirachi, Dom Dolla, Troye Sivan, Thelma Plum, and Olivia Dean, among many others. With rapid transitions, a varied performance roster, and a multi-camera broadcast workflow, the Scene Change team required a robust LED set-up capable of delivering precise colour reproduction, stable playback, and reliable performance throughout the extended live show.

To achieve this, Scene Change installed a 260sqm LED canvas comprising specified ROE Visual Topaz (TP), Topaz Curve (TP-C), Graphite (GP), and Vanish V8S LED panels, driven by six Brompton 4K Tessera SX40 processors and 18 Tessera XD data distribution units, ensuring uniform image quality and seamless integration across all LED elements on stage.

Performance consistency was a key requirement, with the Tessera platform ensuring dependable on-camera results across mixed LED types, and handling varied lighting conditions without colour shift or artefacts. The SX40’s low-latency processing ensured that transitions between content styles, ranging from dynamic graphic looks to IMAG feeds and performance-driven visuals, remained smooth and responsive throughout the night. The system’s stability also gave Scene Change confidence as they navigated multiple live performances and tightly timed cues.

Pellizzari emphasised that reliability was a driving factor in their long-term investment strategy. “We made the decision early on in our investment into LED to implement a processing solution that offered the highest degree of reliability,” he notes. “Brompton gave us exactly that.”

At a technical level, Scene Change’s LED systems team also highlighted the operational flexibility the Tessera ecosystem provides. “For a show like the ARIAs, we need processing that can handle anything we throw at it,” says Joel Gibson, LED Systems Tech at Scene Change. “The combination of Tessera SX40 and XD system gives us full redundancy, the ability to work with multiple refresh rates, and support for different LED panel types on the same processor. Being able to build custom mapping on a single canvas, link processors for unified brightness control, and integrate directly with the lighting desk for colour and intensity management makes an enormous difference on a show of this scale.”
